The new national standard for power lithium battery transportation will be implemented in February next year.

    According to CCTV News today, the national standard of "Technical Requirements for Safety and Multimodal Transport of Power Lithium Batteries" will be implemented on February 1, 2026.   As the "heart" of new energy vehicles, the safe and efficient transportation of power lithium batteries is the key to improve the supply chain resilience of the power lithium battery industry chain and better serve the high-quality development of the "new three" industries in foreign trade, as well as one of the important grasps to promote the cost reduction, quality improvement and efficiency enhancement of transportation logistics.  

    IT House learned from the report that the standard stipulates the classification and grading of power lithium battery transportation, as well as the requirements of transportation packaging, consignment, loading and unloading, temporary storage, multimodal transport and emergency disposal. The packaging performance requirements of in-use batteries and waste batteries have been improved, and technical cost reduction, quality improvement and efficiency enhancement have been promoted. At the same time, the standard clarifies the relevant documents and information sharing requirements of multimodal transport of power lithium batteries, supports and solves the problems of inconsistent documents and repeated information filling among various modes of transport, and promotes the convenient and efficient transportation of power lithium batteries.
